SMILE PIZZA with mortadella, mild provolone, lamb's lettuce and balsamic vinegar

January 10, 2025

Smiling is innate and spontaneous—we don’t need to learn or practice it, and it brings countless benefits. It even has its own day: World Smile Day, celebrated every first Friday in October. Smiles feature prominently in proverbs and sayings, including this gem from Ancient China: “Every smile makes you a day younger.” By now, it’s common knowledge: smiling helps lift your spirits and even reduces stress. This small but great action triggers the release of “feel-good hormones” (endorphins), which act as a natural painkiller. But despite these well-known facts, adults often forget the magic of smiling.

That’s why our recipe serves as more than just a delicious treat—it’s also a gentle reminder, a cheerful wish, and even a tiny request: let’s smile more often!
Our Pizza Smile, topped with mortadella, mild provolone, lamb’s lettuce, and balsamic vinegar, is a delightful combination of delicate flavors and vibrant colors. It’s perfect for a fun evening with friends or a solo indulgence at home, perhaps in front of a compelling TV series or enveloped in the atmosphere of your favorite music.

Ingredients

1 Smile Pizza Base by Pizza Food Love
100 g of Mortadella Bologna PGI by Emilia Food Love
Mild Provolone by Emilia Food Love
4–5 cherry tomatoes
Lamb's lettuce
Balsamic Vinegar of Modena PGI by Emilia Food Love
Salt

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180 °C (350 °F), heat the pizza base for about 10 minutes. Alternatively, you can use a griddle or a non-stick skillet for approximately the same amount of time.

  2. Remove from the oven and top with slices of mortadella, Provolone cheese flakes, fresh lamb’s lettuce, a few cherry tomatoes, and finish with a few drops of balsamic vinegar.

    Tip

For a richer flavor, you can also add our delicious Semi-Dry Cherry Tomatoes in oil. Pizza Smile is also great if you replace mild Provolone with one of Emilia Food Love's Traditional Pecorino cheeses.

Cooking can become a time machine that takes us into old Roman taverns, into the Land of Bengodi described by Giovanni Boccaccio, or back to the 1500s, right when the history of Italian cuisine was being written.

Because flavor stands the test of time and is never dulled by progress. Culinary art evolves, but some things never change and remind us that happiness can be found in a single forkful of Four Cheese Pappardelle with Red Onions and Walnuts.
